Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association has taken the responsibility to become the Concrete Sustainability Council’s “System Operator” in Turkey
Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association (THBB) has taken a big step in Turkey in terms of sustainability. Having led the ready mixed concrete and related industries in terms of quality, environment, and vocational safety, Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association (THBB) has been assigned as the Concrete Sustainability Council’s “Regional System Operator” by fulfilling successfully the eligibility criteria.
Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association (THBB) has been working to promote the production of concrete in compliance with the national and international standards and to ensure the accurate concrete applications in constructions for last 29 years. THBB continues its activities at its best capacity to improve the concrete and related industries in Turkey.
THBB gives great importance to the sustainability as a model that handles environmental balance and economic growth and believes that the best way to invest in our future is to use the natural resources efficiently. THBB had made an application to the Concrete Sustainability Council in 2017, and has been appointed as the Council’s “Regional System Operator,” proving its competences regarding concrete and concrete components.
Recently, THBB has launched a program to introduce the Responsible Sourcing Certification System to Turkish concrete producers. Regional System Operatorship and Certification system will be enabled in Turkey subsequent to the adaptation of the system documentation of the Concrete Sustainability Council, training of the inspectors, and pilot inspections.
In his assessment regarding THBB’s works on sustainability, Mr. Yavuz Işık, President of the Board of Directors of ERMCO and THBB, said, “Appointment of Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association as the “Regional System Operator” of the Concrete Sustainability Council is a big step for our country and our ready mixed concrete industry towards a more sustainable system. The Concrete Sustainability Council certificate system supports the producers to enhance their product quality. As of the moment of system’s start of application, THBB will determine the certification conditions as the Regional System Operator. Thanks to this certificate, producers will also increase the reputation of their firms by proving their conformity with the international norms regarding responsible resource utilization. Our ready mixed concrete industry will level up to a significant extent thanks to the membership of the Council.”

Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association (THBB) is a professional organization that has endeavored for the production of concrete in compliance with the standards to construct the reliable and resistant structures and for the use of concrete in high resistance classes in the concrete applications conforming to the standards especially in the areas with high earthquake risk since 1988. It is mandatory for the companies to do production in compliance with the standards in all their ready-mixed concrete plants, to have received a KGS (Quality Assurance System) Certificate of Conformity which is subjected to continuous spot checking, to possess an appropriate laboratory, and to fulfill the technical, environmental, legal, and ethical criteria as well as the criteria relating to vocational health and workers’ safety in a complete manner.
