Esteemed members and stakeholders of our sector. As the representative of the ready mixed concrete sector, which is the most fundamental branch of construction, we continue our endeavors intensively. In October, there became an important development concerning our Occupational Competence Certification activities. Within the framework of the occupational competence examination services it executes, our Center for Occupational Qualification of Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association (THBB MYM) was entitled to benefit from the grant within the scope of the "Direct Grant for Certification-II" project signed by the Occupational Competence Authority (MYK), the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, EU Financial Grants Office, and the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey. The entire examination fees of the persons who will be entitled to receive MYK Occupational Competence Certificate by successfully passing the Concrete Pump Operator Level 3 National Competence examinations organized by THBB MYM will be borne by the grant fund. Our on-the-job trainings continue at full throttle. In September, we held our "Concrete and Reinforced Concrete Experiments in Earthquake-resistant Buildings" training in Istanbul. During the training that lasted seven days, the trainees were informed about concrete and aggregate experiments, theoretically and practically. We provided practical and theoretical training on a truck-mixer to the trainees who attended our "Economic and Safe Driving" trainings held in Karabük in November. We held our "Locating Officer and Technical Safety Rules" trainings for concrete pump operators and locating and shipment officers working in construction site operations, in Ankara in October and in Karabük in November. In the trainings, we informed the attendees about the rules to be complied with at a construction site.
We keep close track of subjects and developments on the agenda of our sector. At our Technical Committee and Environmental and Occupational Safety Committee meetings, which we held via teleconference in September, we made decisions by discussing the developments concerning our sector, particularly the revision of the TS 13515 Standard, our Concrete Lifecycle Guide, sustainability and green buildings in the construction sector in terms of the ready mixed concrete sector, the problems experienced in aggregate supply and quality, and our planned sectoral research regarding the molds of concrete samples used by the ready mixed concrete producers.
As it is known, one of the most important construction equipment used in the construction sector is mobile concrete pumps. The quality, technology, strength, and functionality of concrete pumps are very important in terms of the safety, efficiency, and economy of the work. At the same time, errors in onsite applications, like the selection of the location where the pump will be set up, setup of the pump, pumping of concrete, and disassembly of the pump again can from time to time cause material damage and even loss of life. Accordingly, we prepared the training film “Safe Setup of a Concrete Pump” under the sponsorship of Güriş İş Makinaları Endüstri AŞ,, and shared it with our sector, with the aim of reducing the job accidents caused by mobile concrete pumps at a construction area. Our educational films, which are welcomed with intense interest, have been watched over 450,000 times so far.
