Despite the occurrence of resurgence experienced in many sectors as of the last quarter of 2019, no reanimation took place in the construction sector, thus the ready mixed concrete sector, and at the moment when our expectations turned positive, the economic impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic started to be felt in our country. The ready mixed concrete sector is the very first sector among the industrial manufacture sectors that will be affected from the pandemic at first stage and directly. Hence, we took some initiatives for the ready mixed concrete producers to be affected from the pandemic process to a lesser extent.

We continue our endeavors nonstop for the improvement of our sector and solution of our problems, by keeping close track of the issues that concern our sector. Accordingly, we held our Environment and Occupational Safety Committee Meeting via teleconference in April. In our meeting, we passed decisions by assessing the significant issues regarding our sector in terms of the environment and occupational safety, particularly the measures taken in our sector for the Coronavirus pandemic, good practice examples in the ready mixed concrete sector, and the developments about the THBB Environment Contest and the Concrete Sustainability Council.

For safeguarding the employees of our sector against the pandemic, we shared the “Guidebook for Protection from the COVID-19 Pandemic for the Ready Mixed Concrete Sector.” The guidebook highlights the issues to be taken into account in both ready mixed concrete facilities and worksites.
